Released along with the Pocket Edition PRS-300 on August 5, 2009, the PRS-600 has the added features of the memory card slot, larger 6" touchscreen and a slightly different selection of colors. Otherwise the basic functions are the same such as horizontal landscape view mode, USB 2.0 connection/recharging and support for multiple formats including ePub, BBeB Book, PDF, TXT, RTF and Microsoft Word. The screen resolution is also the same as is the grayscale of 8 levels, and the E Ink Vizplex technology used in displaying the image is also the same. The screen itself does not have a light in it like regular screens or monitors. It displays the image without needing power, only requiring a small amount every time the page is turned or 'refreshed'. In this way the battery is preserved and as an added benefit it looks more like paper and will not vanish when being viewed in bright sunlight. Shortly after the PRS-600 was released the Daily Edition PRS-2121 was announced which has the same features but is larger and is the first e-Reader to feature 3G wifi.
