The Cons:Display is not backlit, is rather small, is not e-ink - not ideal for a reading-intensive device. Limited functionality. Subscription is rather wasteful - seeing as microSD cards can be rewritten onto.

The OpenMoko WikiReader is a portable device on which every Wikipedia entry is readable. It features a sunlight-readable touchscreen for typing and scrolling and physical buttons for search, history, and 'random' functions.

Users can subscribe to biannual updates in memory card form for an annual fee of $29, or the updates can be downloaded for free and copied via microSD reader.  The device consumes little energy, lasting for about a year on two AAA batteries.

vsaxena911: #openmoko_wikireader Eh... I'd prefer automatic daily cellular (GSM) updates, instead of having to do it manually, simply for the fact that Wikipedia is CONSTANTLY being updated. Dec 9, 09
